Al Seef is a place that will take you on the nostalgic ride to the Dubai’s distinct traditional and historic culture. Here we can still recall the steps of the fishermen, pearl-divers, weavers and tradesmen who once made this place one of most successful pearl diving port. (Well if you don’t know, let me tell you Pearl diving was once the most lucrative profession in the United Arab Emirates in the early 20th century.) Al Seef showcases an authentic Emirati experience for today’s and tomorrow’s generations.
Al Seef is divided into two distinct region, one is modern which has the familiar shipping container type buildings (like those in Lamer or citywalk) while the other side shows the Old Dubai model, with wind towers, sandstone buildings, market stalls etc. Old side model is made with such perfection that you can even find rusted street-side pillar boxes or electrical outlets, and air conditioning units.
The heritage background of wind towers and sandstone buildings facing the 1.8 km of Dubai creeks shoreline makes it a perfect spot for photography. There are old modeled lamps installed everywhere and also you will find many antique kind of objects like an old rotary phone attached on a wall, large clay pots, wooden crates or rusted drums.
You can have a peaceful walk with your family and friends along the shoreline while also enjoying a variety of amazing foods at the restaurants and cafes. Along with the walk you can enjoy the creek as well. An Abra boat ride in just 1.5 dh only will do that (Yes only 1.5 dh). Abras and boats can be spotted on Dubai Creek. People take abra rides to get in and out of Al Seef.
Relish the vibrancy of traditional souk, a floating market, art galleries and discover a range of hand-crafted, unique items for sale. Whether it be Day or Night, Al Seef is lively both the time.
Al Seef is also home to various markets and events that takes place in its spacious outdoor spaces. So when you are planning to visit don’t forget to check which event is taking place.
